bmi regional launches new flight code

  • 28th October 2012

Independent airline bmi regional has today (28 October) marked another milestone in its continued evolution with the introduction of new flight codes.

The well-known British Midland BD flight code used on all of bmi regional’s domestic and international flights has been replaced with the BM flight code, which is much closer to the airline’s name. Flight numbers will remain the same however with, for example, BD1366 becoming BM1366.

“We are delighted to have acquired the BM code and its introduction marks another step forward in our ongoing development strategy by ensuring our flights are instantly recognisable,” said Chairman Ian Woodley.

“As a brand we have a tremendous heritage that has been built on providing great customer service. We want to see a return to the core values which people associate with a quality flying experience and are looking to build on our reputation for excellence in all elements of our service going forward.”

As part of the ongoing plans, the company has launched a new website, a new UK based Customer Contact Centre and intends to revamp its product offering in the coming months.

bmi regional operates a fleet of 4 x Embraer ERJ 135 and 14 x ERJ 145 jets with more than 600 weekly flights throughout the UK and Europe. The full service carrier offers check-in up to 30 minutes prior to departure, a 20kg hold baggage allowance and offers onboard complimentary catering on an all jet fleet.

From tomorrow (29 October) bmi regional will operate two new services: Manchester-Antwerp; and Aberdeen-Bristol. This is in addition to its extensive existing network.
